We Care Gift Bags

The winter shelters are closed.   Hundreds are back in the woods, in restrooms, in sheds, in their cars, etc.   We have ben involved in ministry to those on the streets for over ten years, and things are changing fast.   Who we see standing on the street corners is not representative of who is really on the streets of Lexington.  We are seeing so many:

  • older and younger women
  • released from jail with no family
  • with no experience being homeless
  • new to Lexington, coming here from places with few agencies to help them survive.

We are about to launch a new effort for May to give away bags filled with small personal supplies to those who are literally living in the woods, a parking garage, a shed, a car, or some other temporary home.   We have partners who have volunteered to take us to those who are not in shelter.   With the new law by which a person can be arrested for sleeping in a park or on the street, the camps are all gone and it is more difficult to find those in need.  We are anticipating an eventful May.  The new effort is called We Care.

You can be a part of this.   Every bag is filled with 12 hygiene vital survival items like bug spray, new socks, nice flashlight and toiletry items, all in a waterproof carry bag.   The purpose?  To give them hope and show them they are not alone.   With helping hands, we give hope.

$20 buys and delivers this bag to women and men where they are.   To join this effort of love and hope, go here to donate via check or Venmo.   Thanks!   Through our connections we can help.
